Hello Grant Family!
It is time to get our Grant Family back together. Over the past few weeks, I have been feeling pulled more and more towards opening the church doors for in person worship. My concern for everyone’s safety is my first priority so worship will look a bit different as we gather. I am personally ready to return to in person worship so I want to offer that option to those who are also ready to return.
First, let me start by saying I miss you all! So, for anyone who is ready to gather let us get our hearts ready to do so! I mentioned that service will look different as we return. To gather and gather safely we must be careful.
We will honor and respect social distancing and the wearing of masks. We will not have coffee/snack time after church and there will be no “circling up” at the end of service to hold hands and sing. There will be additional chairs set up where we normally have our overflow seating so families can spread out further. Please sit within your family units and spread out to respect everyone’s space.
Also, there will be no Sunday School when we return. We will evaluate this after school starts and honor what guidance the Bishop gives us in this area. Offering will look a bit different as well. I will not be passing around the offering plates. They will be placed on a table for us to place our offerings in at any time during the service.
I will be continually watching the numbers of cases of Coronavirus in our area just as I have been since the beginning of this pandemic. I am aware that the numbers in our county have risen but now there are not currently any cases being treated in the hospital and other churches in our district have opened and are doing it successfully with no cases reported as well. We will be very careful and take any necessary precautions for everyone’s safety. If at any time we feel we need to shut down in person worship for any reason we will do so. Also, please know that if the Bishop of the UMC decides at any time that he would like the churches to close their doors for safety we will follow his recommendations.
I understand that there will be some who are not ready to return to in person worship and I completely understand and respect that decision. Each person must do what is right for themselves and their families. Now that I am ready to personally return, I want to offer this option to those who are ready as well. Please know that our online presence on Sunday mornings via Facebook will continue. I will post a Sunday Morning Video on our Facebook Page at 10:00am. I’m hoping to make arrangements to have our service live streamed on Facebook at some point so that those who are home watching can connect with us on Sunday mornings.
If you are ready to return to in person worship, I invite you to join me Sundays at 10:00am beginning on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in our beautiful Grant UMC sanctuary.
